The sole body for approval is the Edwards County Board of Commissioners

Permitting Process Overview

  1. Submit application with required items (see ordinance) to the Edwards County Commissioners.
  2. Completeness review will be completed by the Commissioners within 30 days of filing.
  3. If the application is deemed complete, the Commissioners have thirty days to act on the applications.
  4. Applicant has 30 days to appeal any decision.
  5. Approval or denial of permit is by ordinance or resolution. It is not a zoning decision and is not subject to 55 ILCS 5/5-12012.1
  6. A public hearing is held, allowing the applicant 5 minutes to present, plus three minutes per person for public comment in favor or against the application.
  7. An approved project is valid throughout the useful life of the project, including decommissioning.

Fees and costs: $5,000 filing fee
