Opposition

There are no vocal opposition groups to solar development in the area that we could find.

As for other projects in the area, there is the Lily Solar & Storage project in Kaufman County belonging to Enel, but even as it was going through its permitting and building process there doesn’t appear to have been much if any public outcry in the process.

An article from two weeks ago about the Hunt County Commissioners Court revisiting tax abatement agreements with three companies. These abatements were granted before COVID hit, and the article says, “The primary change is to when the companies begin operations.” This doesn’t sound like we should be concerned in a total change of process, but we will continue to monitor.

An article talking about how solar saved Texas this summer. While not a local publication, it did get some local attention on the Kaufman County Breaking news Facebook page over the summer - this is just a general community Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/669979166452016/

However, it does not appear that any formal opposition arose from this, just people who like to complain on Facebook.
