Conditional Use Permit

In Placer County, conditional use permits (CUPs) are approved by the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission is a seven-member body appointed by the county’s Board of Supervisors. In the county code, the role of the commission in approving a CUP is to evaluate the developer’s proposal, receive public input, host a public hearing, and make conditional adjustments to the application based on feedback. “The Planning Commission is the principal advisory body to the Board of Supervisors on planning and related matters and is tasked with making recommendations on proposed general plans, zoning text amendments and major land development proposals.”
