County Profile

The project is located in an unincorporated agricultural area in the northwest portion of Trimble County along the Ohio River. The towns of Bedford and Milton are the largest in the county and each comprise less than 600 residents. The largest regional population center is Madison, Indiana, which is located on the opposite bank of the Ohio River and has over 12,000 residents. Most land is zoned for agricultural use with few incorporated jurisdictions.

Permitting

The permitting process consists of securing a Conditional Use Permit, with final approval granted by the Fiscal Court. Facilities generating over 10MW of energy must also secure a Construction Certificate from the Kentucky State Board on Electric Generation and Transmission Siting (“Siting Board”).

Strategy

Local sentiment is strongly in favor of the type of economic development that this project would provide, so an engagement strategy centered around economic benefits will be the most effective way forward, starting with key local officials and early Community giving and partnerships.
